Tequila Ocho Plata Puntas 108 (2024)
A rare expression even by Tequila Ocho's exacting standards, the Plata Puntas 108 is a limited-release blanco drawn exclusively from the puntas, the purest and most volatile fraction of the distillation run, captured at a remarkable 108 proof before any reduction.
Produced at Cia. Tequilera Los Alambiques under NOM 1474 in the highland appellation of Arandas, Jalisco, this 2024 vintage follows Ocho's signature single-estate philosophy, honoring the terroir of the agave source with minimal intervention and no chill filtration. The puntas cut delivers a concentrated, high-proof expression that retains the lifted floral and citrus character the Arandas highlands are celebrated for.
- Nose: Bright and intensely aromatic, with white flowers, fresh lime zest, green herbs, and a wave of raw agave sweetness that signals the purity of the puntas cut.
- Palate: Bold and layered, offering roasted agave, citrus pith, black pepper, and a mineral salinity that reflects the rich red clay soils of the Los Altos region.
- Finish: Long and warming, with lingering herbaceous notes, sweet cooked agave, and a clean heat that fades gracefully.
The Plata Puntas 108 holds its own in a Paloma or a Tommy's Margarita, where its high-proof intensity cuts beautifully through citrus and sweetener, but it is equally compelling served neat to appreciate everything that makes this limited release exceptional.
Best enjoyed neat or with a single ice cube to open up the aromatics; crafted from blue agave grown in the highlands of Arandas, Jalisco.
